Fast forward five years and throw in the current WFH (and working out from home) situation, and the new and improved Ivy Park has never felt more relevant. Back then, Beyoncé was riding, or rather anticipating, the wave of a new athleisurewear trend that has since become a lifestyle. The recent drips are a far cry from the graphic black and white bodysuits you saw all over Instagram in 2016. In fact, since parting ways with Sir Philip Green (Ivy Park was originally a Topshop partnership) and acquiring total ownership of the athleisurewear label, Queen B has been busy turning the brand around. In true Beyonce style, the singer/actor/entrepreneur said that 2020 marked the first time in her life she'd been 'so still', but that she was busy nonetheless, designing and shooting several Ivy Park x Adidas collections. The new and improved Ivy Park was unveiled back in February 2020. Not only has he appeared in shows like The Wire and Fargo, but Turman co-founded a Western-inspired summer camp for at-risk inner-city youths in 1992 and was instrumental in the first all-Black rodeo being televised in June of this year. It also stars the cowboy-turned-Emmy-winning actor Glynn Turman dressed in head-to-toe Ivy Park while riding horses on a ranch. The campaign video features the likes of Paloma Elsesser, Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles Lawson, country musician Orville Peck and Houston rappers Monaleo and Tobe Nwigwe all saddling up to ride merry-go horses and mechanical bulls, or dancing and lassoing in a ring of fire.
But this is more than just a nod to the zeitgeist, this season Beyonce was hoping to shine a light on the history of Black cowboys with her new Ivy Park lineup. The style set are loving all things Western at the moment: everyone from Kendall Jenner to Camille Charriere has been championing cowboy boots and Dua Lipa's most recent video for Love Again is another Rodeo vibe. It's coming to the UK on August 19 and from what we can see its full-on cowboy themed.Īs per, Beyoncé is on the money when it comes to current trends.
